(St. Louis, MO) The St. Louis Cardinals split a four game series with the San Diego Padres after Thursday’s 4-1 victory. Sonny Gray looked sharp in the win. He went six innings and allowed just one run while striking out four.
The Cardinals scored the first runs of the game in the bottom of the third inning when Luken Baker grounded out to short scoring Alec Burleson. Paul Goldschmidt doubled later in the inning scoring Nolan Arenado. Masyn Winn hit his 12th homer of the year in the sixth inning.
Cardinals pitchers combined to allow just three hits and Ryan Helsley picked up his MLB leading 41st save of the season.
