(Minneapolis, MN) The St. Louis Cardinals snag a series win from the jaws of defeat with a comeback victory in the final game of a series with the Minnesota Twins on Sunday. Lars Nootbaar batted with two on and two outs in the top of the ninth inning and came through with a two-run single.
Erick Fedde was dominant in the series finale stricking out seven batters over six innings of work. He allowed a run on two hits. Nolan Arenado was 4-for-12 in the series.
The Cardinals (64-64) sit five games out of the final wild card spot and will begin a four game series with the San Diego Padres Monday night. The Padres are currently sitting in the second wild card spot.
As the red birds return home, they will be without Willson Contreras who left Saturday’s loss with a fractured middle finger on his right hand.
