(St. Louis, MO) The St. Louis Cardinals wrapped up the home portion of the 2024 season with a series win over the Cleveland Guardians. St. Louis won games two and three by a single run.
On Saturday a four run bottom of the seventh inning was enough for the Redbirds to hold off a four run top of the eighth for Cleveland.
Jordan Walker and Ivan Herrera each hit home runs in Saturday’s win. Herrera was 2-for-3. Miles Mikolas collected his ninth win of the season.
On Sunday Andre Pallante was sharp on the bump for the Cardinals. He lasted seven innings and allowed just a run on a hit and struck out four. Nolan Arenado and Brendan Donovan each had two hits in the win.
Ryan Helsley picked saves 46 and 47 in the wins, leading the league in that category.
Hopes for the playoffs were dashed on Friday night after a loss to Cleveland.
