Denver, Co. (KFMO) - The St. Louis Cardinals lost the final game of its penultimate series, 10-8, to the Colorado Rockies Thursday afternoon.
Runs were scored early and often, the Cardinals led 5-4 after 2 innings. The Rockies tied things up in the 4th, but St. Louis reclaimed that lead in the 5th before increasing it to 8-5 in the top of the 8th.
Unfortunately, the Rockies exploded for 5 runs in the bottom half of the same inning, getting to relief pitcher Ryan Hernandez and his replacement, Kyle Leahy. The Cardinals could do nothing in the top of the 9th as they fell 10-8.
The Cardinals do still win the series versus the Rockies. They've guaranteed at least a .500 finish, they'll try to next guarantee a winning season when the play the San Francisco Giants in their final series of the year. First pitch tonight is scheduled for 9:15PM, pregame at 8:20 on B104.3.
