(Park Hills, MO) The third seeded Farmington Knights defeated the 14 seed North County Raiders 60-28 in round 1 of the Bob Sechrest Jr. Central Christmas Tournament.
The score doesn’t explain how close the first half of the game was. The teams ended the first only separated by 8 points with Farmington leading 27-19. The second half was a different story, however, with the Raiders not being able to consistently make shots fall. The Knights quickly took off at the start of the third quarter and finished outscoring North County 23-6. They continued this trend into the fourth where they outscored the Raiders 10-3, securing them the victory.
Farmington was led by a 15 point night from Cannon Roth where he shot 60% from the field and sank two of two from the free-throw line. Roth was helped by Logan Schaupert who put up 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. John Wruck led the Raiders in scoring with 11.
The Knights will play the Festus Tigers in the quarterfinals on Thursday, Dec. 28 at 8:30pm. North County will play Fredericktown Blackcats in the consolation bracket on Thursday at 11:30am.
