(Ste. Genevieve, MO) The Fredericktown Lady Blackcats outlasted the Ste. Genevieve Dragons 36-30 at Ste. Genevieve High School on Thursday night.
Both teams shot poorly from the field, with the Lady Cats holding the shooting advantage 15-of-43 (35%), while Ste. Gen went 13-of-55 (24%). Fredericktown held the rebounding advantage by a single board 33-32, but gave possession away more with 19 turnovers to Ste. Genevieve’s 17.
Keira Francis paced the Lady Blackcats with 12 points, adding eight rebounds. Ava Penuel contributed nine points and a team leading 10 rebounds, while Amelia Miller added nine in both categories.
Fredericktown’s Maggie Wood hit her lone 3-pointer late in the second quarter to give the Cats the lead at halftime 19-17.
Ste. Gen struggled from the arc missing all 9 shots taken. Their leading scorer, Bri Abt finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Sadie Greminger followed with 10 points.
The Lady Cats improve to 8-9, and 2-1 in league play. They’ll host Farmington on Monday in a broadcast game on KFMO. While the Dragons fall to 7-7, 1-2 and host Farmington tonight.
