Cape Girardeau, Mo. (KFMO) - A former baseball and softball coach with both Central and Farmington has been hired as an assistant softball coach at Southeast Missouri University.
Bryan Wallen joined the Redhawks softball program on Wednesday. Wallen coached the Central baseball team from 1999-2013, the Central softball team from 1998-2003 and 2011-2019, and the Farmington softball team from 2020-2023. At Central, he won 165 baseball games, 191 softball games, two baseball conference championships, and five softball championships. His softball teams also won four district titles and finished as a state runner-up in 2018. At Farmington, Wallen coaced the Knights to 96 total wins and two district titles. Over his nearly 30 years in coaching, he has coached 20 All-State players and numerous Academic All-State honorees.
Wallen is a 1995 graduate of SEMO and has previously worked for university as its Director of Player Development during the 2023 season. In 2024, he was an assistant coach at Union University in Tennessee. The Redhawks finished 28-26 last season, including a 19-8 mark in conference play.
