(Park Hills, MO) The five seed Festus Tigers girls basketball team defeated the fourth seeded Arcadia Valley Lady Tigers 75-60 in the second game of day 1 at the Central Lady Rebels Christmas Tournament. The Tigers were led by a Ciara McDonald double-double, scoring 18 and grabbing 12 rebounds.
The two teams stayed within 15 points or less of each other for the duration of the first half, but Festus turned up the pressure after halftime going up by as much as 20 late in the game and never surrendering the lead.
Lady Tigers’ guard Braelyn Turnbough put up 35 points, leading Arcadia Valley’s offense. McDonald was joined in scoring double digits by Tigers’ teammates Olivia Madden (15p), Liz Skaggs (13p), and Alyzah Scaggs (17p). Festus shot 56% from the field and went 16 for 24 from the free throw line.
Festus will play the Central Lady Rebels Thursday, Dec. 28 at 1pm and the Lady Tigers will play the Steelville Lady Cardinals Wednesday, Dec. 27 at 10am.
