(Farmington, MO) The Farmington Knights top the North County Raiders 28-14 in Week 1 of the season Friday night. Junior Running back Kaesen McClain ran for 122 yards on 13 carries to lead the Knights offense. McClain was the x-factor for the Farmington offense with two touchdowns in the 1st quarter to swing momentum in favor of the Black and Gold. He added his third rushing touchdown in the 4th to ensure a Knights victory.
Farmington Head Coach, Erik Kruppe, says McClain’s explosiveness allowed for the solid Week 1 performance.
Kruppe adds he is proud of his team after the win in a rivalry matchup with the Raiders.
North County’s offense broke through two seconds into the 2nd quarter and pulled within one possession after a trick play for the 2 point conversion was successful.
Unfortunately for the Raiders, Farmington would tack on insurance just over a minute later on a Brett Drye 46 yard quarterback keeper that found the endzone. The Knights converted on a two point attempt for a 22-8 lead that would stand until halftime.
New Raiders Quarterback, Henry Allebach punched a 3 yard QB sneak through the line of scrimmage and into the endzone to wrap up the scoring with 34 seconds left in regulation.
North County Head Coach, Brian Jones, says they were able to learn more about their roster despite the loss.
The Knights pick up their first win against North County since 2020 and head to Potosi for Week 2 in a broadcast game on KFMO Friday night with pregame coverage beginning at 6:30. The Raiders host St. Clair this Friday in Bonne Terre.
