(Columbia, MO) University of Missouri wide receiver Luther Burden III has been named to the 2024 Preseason Coaches All-SEC first team, while offensive tackle Armand Membou and offensive guard Cam’Ron Johnson were named to the 2024 Preseason Coaches All-SEC third team.
Burden returns for his third season as Mizzou's starting wide receiver and is coming off a sophomore campaign in which he finished as a semifinalist for the prestigious Biletnikoff Award. Just a year ago, the St. Louis, Missouri, native led the Tigers in receptions (86), receiving yards (1,212) and touchdown receptions (nine). The 2023 First-Team All-SEC choice finished the season second in the SEC and ninth in the nation in receiving yards and third in the conference in receptions. His 1,212 receiving yards rank third on the program's single-season chart, while his 83 receptions rank fourth in program lore.
Membou is back for his second consecutive season as Mizzou's starting offensive tackle after helping the Tigers' line finish as semifinalists last season for the Joe Moore Award which honors the most outstanding offensive line units in the nation. The Lee's Summit, Missouri, product helped Mizzou's line limit opponents to just one or zero sacks on five occasions and paved the way for the Tigers to register five touchdowns in four outings.
Johnson, a 6-4, 305-pound offensive guard appeared in all 13 games in 2023, earning the starting nod 12 times. The Houston, Texas, native created holes for the Tigers' offensive unit to rush for 200-plus yards on five occasions and reached triple digits in rushing in all but one outing. Behind Johnson's blocking, Mizzou registered 500-plus yards of total offense in three consecutive weeks (Memphis, Vanderbilt, LSU), and five times in total.
