San Francisco, Ca. (KFMO) - The Kansas City Chiefs are now the only team in the NFL without a loss after dispatching the San Francisco 49ers, 28-18.
The 49ers (3-4) scored first after a 55-yard field goal, the only points scored in the 1st quarter. Kansas City (6-0) scored twice in the 2nd on back-to-back touchdown runs of 1 and 6 yards by Kareem Hunt. The 49ers added another field goal as time expired to make it 14-6 at the half.
The 49ers cut the deficit to just 2 points following a quarterback sneak by Brock Purdy, but again, Kansas City found the endzone with their running game, with Patrick Mahomes and Mecole Hardman doing the work. Purdy scored again for the 49ers late, but a misfired onside kick allowed the Chiefs to recover and run out the rest of the clock for a 28-18 victory.
The Chiefs defense played stellar once again, forcing Purdy into 3 interceptions, and almost forcing a fumble that fortunately went out of bounds for San Francisco.
The Minnesota Vikings, previously undefeated, lost on Sunday to the Detroit Lions, making the Chiefs the last unbeaten remaining. They'll try to defend that title next Sunday as they travel to Las Vegas to face the Raiders.
