Uplift Overnight Homeless Shelter Closing

(Farmington, MO) Officials with the East Missouri Action Agency are announcing the closure of the Uplift Overnight Homeless Shelter in Farmington. A press release from the agency cites funding shortages as the reason. A Program Manager with the EMAA, Rob Baker, says The closure of the shelter is a deeply regrettable outcome as it will  leave a void in the support network available to those experiencing homelessness in our community.

Baker explains they are committed to exploring alternative funding sources and looking for partnerships that will help establish shelter services for the future. For more information on the closure of the homeless shelter, or to support East Missouri Action Agency's ongoing efforts to fight homelessness, call the agency at 573-431-5191.
