Two Bismarck Men Arrested After Burglary, Pursuit in Washington County

Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Two Bismarck men are in custody after an early morning burglary and pursuit in Washington County.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the Caledonia area during the early hours of Wednesday, January 29, 2025, for a burglary in progress. The caller reported seeing two masked men on security cameras breaking into the garage. When deputies arrived, they encountered a side-by-side vehicle occupied by two masked males leaving the property. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to yield, leading officers on a brief pursuit before crashing on State Highway 32.

Authorities say the driver, Benjamin Mounce, of Bismarck, was taken into custody at the crash site. The passenger, Gary Turner, also of Bismarck, fled on foot but was quickly apprehended after a short chase. Investigators determined that the side-by-side, along with a dirt bike and various tools, had been stolen from the victim.

Mounce faces multiple charges, including two counts of stealing a motor vehicle, stealing over $750, second-degree burglary, possession of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest. Turner has been charged with two counts of stealing a motor vehicle, stealing over $750, second-degree burglary, and resisting arrest. Both are being held without bond.
