St. Franocois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A two-vehicle collision on Missouri 8 at the west exit in St. Francois County Wednesday afternoon left two people with serious injuries and two children with minor injuries.
The crash occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m. when a 2011 Ford F350, driven by a 40-year-old man from Irondale, failed to notice a 1995 Mazda Protege slowing to make a left turn. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Ford struck the rear of the Mazda. The Mazda's driver, a 66-year-old man from Leadwood, and a 67-year-old female passenger sustained serious injuries. They were airlifted to Mercy Hospital St. Louis. Two children, aged 9 and 12, who were passengers in the Ford, suffered minor injuries. They were transported by ambulance to Parkland Hospital in Farmington for treatment. The Ford sustained moderate damage and the Mazda was totaled.
Authorities noted the driver of the Ford was inattentive to the roadway at the time of the crash. Both vehicles were traveling westbound.
