St. Francois County Watching Use of Funds

(St. Francois County, MO.) St. Francois County officials are carefully watching how they use the nearly 8 million dollars from the federal government that's been given to the county as part of the effort to fight and recover from the coronavirus. Associate St. Francois County Commissioner, Patrick Mullins, says federal authorities recommended the county get a group to administer the funds. Mullins adds The Southeast Missouri Regional Planning Commission will take over that duty for several counties, including St. Francois.

Mullins explains one example of the spending restrictions is that counties can't use the federal monies for things like budget shortfalls. Expenditures must be connected to the COVID-19 outbreak. According to Mullins they have a large stock of personal protective gear the county has purchased as part of the financial package.
