Small Earthquake Reported in Ste. Genevieve County

Ste. Genevieve Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A minor earthquake is being reported from Monday night in Ste. Genevieve County.

Reports show the quake measured at a magnitude of 2.4 and struck at 11:38 p.m. It was centered about 15.5 miles east of Farmington and 32.1 miles southeast of Festus. The quake took place at a depth of 3.7 miles.

No damage or injuries were reported from the quake.

The region of the quake sits near the New Madrid seismic zone.

The last significant earthquake in the region occurred in 1968. It was a magnitude 5.4 quake that caused damage to southern Illinois.
