Route 221 in St. Francois County Expected to Reopen Friday

Doe Run, Mo. (KFMO) - Route 221 in St. Francois County is set to reopen to traffic tomorrow, Friday, November 8, at approximately 4 p.m., according to the Missouri Department of Transportation. Project Manager Chris Crocker said final touches are underway to complete the project.

The improvements included a fresh asphalt overlay extending from Farmington to Pilot Knob. A significant feature of the project was a new 4,200-foot stretch of roadway constructed near Henson Road at Doe Run. This new section replaces five tight curves with two wider, gradual turns, creating a smoother route with less steep grades, enhancing both safety and driving comfort for travelers.

Route 221 was closed on August 21, 2024, to allow for the construction.
