Park Hills City Administrator Explains Reworld Situation

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - Park Hills City Administrator Zach Franklin is attempting to clear up concerns regarding upcoming operations for the Materials Processing Facility operated by Reworld Waste, LLC.

Franklin says that Missouri Department of Natural Resources, not the city itself, is the regulatory agency that allows for Reworld to establish operations at the facility.

Franklin says risk is an unavoidable part of any industrial park or business.

According to a press release sent out by the city, the city is partnering with KimHEC, LLC, a firm which specializes in regulating non-domestic discharges. KimHEC is assisting the city in updating its legal authority to ensuring that it can require that wastewater discharges from Reworld "are controlled in a way that does not negatively impact our collection system or wastewater treatment plant."

Citizen concerns have included hazardous or biomedical wastes, if the facility will be used as an incinerator, and water contamination.
