McGirl's Sales Tax Proposal

(Jefferson City, MO) A bill filed by State Representative, Mike McGirl, would allow fire departments and ambulance districts in Missouri to raise their sales tax levy by as much as a half a percent to a full percent. McGirl, says a benefit of the sales tax is that it's a tax shared with those outside the community.

McGirl adds if the measure were to become law it would have to come to a vote of the people in the individual fire and ambulance districts who want to take advantage of the measure before it would be applied. McGirl was a guest on our KFMO Annual Legislative broadcast heard live Tuesday morning from Jefferson City on the Start Morning Radio Show on KFMO.
