MAC Board of Trustees Talk Finance

(Park HIlls, MO) Members of the Mineral Area College Board of Trustees are talking about the next installment of CARES Act funding for Missouri colleges after their latest meeting. The President of the college, Dr. Joe Gilgour, told board members at the meeting he attended a virtual conference with Missouri higher education officials and United States Senator Roy Blunt. According to Gilgour there will be more money available with this round and they're hoping to loosen restrictions on the use of the funds.

According to Gilgour the possible $15 minimum wage was discussed with board members as well as possible free community college. Both of these items are favored by the Biden administration and Gilgour says if either, or both, of these policies were to be enacted, it could have a grave impact on the budget at Mineral Area College.
