(Jefferson City, MO.) The Missouri Legislative session ends this afternoon after an unusual few weeks of legislators not being in the capitol over coronavirus measures. The time out of Jefferson City caused several measures to be left for another session with only major bills being discussed. The budget was one item passed by both the House and Senate and that came with a shortfall as revenues from around the state fell after the stay at home order closed many businesses. State Representative, Mike Henderson, says he feels legislators have done the best job they could with the virus taking much of the legislative process out of their control.
Besides the budget House and Senate members also passed a measure which could overturn the redistricting process approved by voters in 2018. The measure would have a bipartisan commission redraw legislative districts. Currently one person, a nonpartisan demographer, is in charge of redrawing maps. The session is set to end at 6 p.m. today.
