Jefferson County Homicide Investigation

(Jefferson County, MO.) A Jefferson County man is being held for shooting and killing his father according to investigators with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. According to a press release from Jefferson County Sheriff, Dave Marshak, a homicide investigation is underway in the 1700 block of Burley Road in the Festus area. Around 8:35 AM Saturday, Jefferson County 911 Dispatch received a call about a victim of a gunshot. When deputies arrived they found a 73-year-old man who had been shot. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. A 42-year-old suspect, who is the man's son, lived in he victim's home. He was picked up at the scene and taken to the Jefferson County Jail. No motive is clear as to why the man allegedly killed his father. Detectives and crime scene analysts are processing the scene.
