Iron County Sheriff's Office Scam Alert

(Ironton, MO) A social media post on the Iron County Sheriff's Office Facebook page is warning residents there have been reports of a scam possibly involving the office. Iron County Sheriff's Department Detective Chris Barton's post goes on to say the Iron County Sheriff’s Office will never contact you via a recorded telephone call. They do not have a fraud division within the agency. They will not contact you asking for any type of monetary donation, bail, or any other money owed to the department. They will not call you asking you to turn yourself in to the fraud division or any other division. They will never ask for your personal information over the phone. Barton also says to beware of scams involving the agency, or any others, requesting personal information over the phone.
