IKO Announces $120 Million Investment in Bismarck Granule Facility

Bismarck, Mo. (KFMO) - IKO, a global leader in manufacturing residential shingles, commercial roofing, and waterproofing products, has announced plans to build a state-of-the-art granule facility for its subsidiary, Bismarck Granules, in Bismarck.

The $120 million investment will establish a facility that will directly supply granules to IKO’s shingle plants across the U.S., supporting the company’s growing operations. The project includes the development of a nearby quarry, in partnership with New Frontier Materials, to provide essential feedstock. PENTA Engineering Corporation is collaborating on the facility’s design and construction, with operations slated to begin in 2026.

“We’re proud to see another leading manufacturer like IKO choosing to grow in Missouri,” said Governor Mike Parson. “This expansion in Bismarck speaks to Missouri’s ability to support businesses through our strategic location, low costs, and skilled workforce. We look forward to the positive impact this will bring to our state.”

The new facility is expected to create over 50 new jobs in the region, boosting the local economy. IKO’s CEO for North America, David Koschitzky, expressed excitement about the project, calling it “the culmination of several years of effort by both our team and our partners.”

Bismarck Mayor Seth Radford welcomed the announcement, emphasizing the city’s pride in hosting the company. “Their investment in this project highlights the incredible potential of our city, and we look forward to working closely with them as they grow,” he said.

St. Francois County Presiding Commissioner Harold Gallaher also celebrated the news, noting that the facility will bring significant economic benefits to the county.

Missouri Partnership, along with several state and local organizations, played a crucial role in attracting IKO to the state. Michelle Hataway, Director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development, and Subash Alias, CEO of Missouri Partnership, highlighted Missouri’s strong manufacturing industry and business-friendly environment as key factors in securing the project.

Construction is already underway, and the facility is anticipated to contribute to the state’s growing reputation as a hub for construction materials manufacturing.
