Former Potosi Officer Pleads Guilty

(St. Louis, MO) A former Potosi police officer, 40 year old Mathew N. Skaggs is pleading guilty to three felony charges including sex trafficking, solicitation of child pornography, and coercion and enticement of a minor. Skaggs admitted to providing cash, vape cartridges, and other items to three male minors for nude pictures or after performing sexual acts on the victims. Skaggs pled guilty Thursday in front of U.S. District Judge Matthew T. Schelp in St Louis. Skaggs admitted to being sexually involved with three teen male juveniles in 2022 ranging in ages from 13 to 17 years old. At the time of his arrest Skaggs was attending training to become a school resource officer. He's scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 14th of next year.
