Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - The City of Farmington Public Works Department is working diligently to address the aftermath of the winter storm that swept through the area over the weekend. Crews are focusing on restoring power and clearing roads, though hazardous conditions have made progress more challenging than usual.
Power Restoration Efforts
Farmington City Light & Water crews are actively working to restore power, but repairs may take longer than normal due to the dangerous conditions. Customers experiencing outages or spotting downed power lines are encouraged to report them by calling the City Light & Water Office at 573-756-2620 during business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) or 573-431-3131 after hours.
Residents are reminded to leave a detailed message, including their full address, to ensure efficient response. The after-hours number is strictly for reporting outages and does not provide restoration estimates. Customers are discouraged from reporting outages via Facebook, as it is not monitored continuously.
Road Clearing Operations
City street crews are working around the clock to clear roads. However, the mixture of ice and snow has made full removal difficult. Even after plowing and treatment, roads may remain partially covered until temperatures rise or sunlight melts the remaining accumulation. Residents are advised to avoid driving unless necessary and to exercise caution on cleared roads, which can still be slick.
Tree Limb Pickup
The city anticipates scheduling a tree limb pickup later this month to address storm debris. Details will be announced once finalized.
