Farmington Bans Cannabis Synthetics, Citing Health and Safety Concerns

Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - The City of Farmington has taken decisive action to ban synthetic cannabis products that have been appearing in local stores. City Council passed an ordinance last week, effectively halting the sale of these products. According to City Administrator Greg Beavers, the synthetics are produced overseas and marketed in a way that makes them look like popular snacks, such as Skittles and Doritos, raising concerns over public safety.

Beavers highlighted the fact that these products are unregulated in the state of Missouri, adding to the concerns surrounding their safety and legality.

Businesses in the area that currently sell synthetic cannabis will soon receive notices from the city, instructing them to remove the items from their shelves. Beavers emphasized the city's commitment to protecting its residents and preventing the sale of potentially harmful products.

The ban comes as part of a broader effort by Farmington to stay ahead of health risks posed by unregulated substances.
