Crump Appointed as New Bonne Terre Police Chief

Bonne Terre, Mo. (KFMO) - The City of Bonne Terre has officially announced the appointment of Jasen Crump as the next Chief of Police for the Bonne Terre Police Department (BTPD).

Crump, a seasoned law enforcement officer, is currently serving as the Chief of Police for the City of Ste. Genevieve but will transition into his new role next month. A native of Bonne Terre and a 1994 graduate of North County High School, Crump brings a wealth of experience and community ties to the position. After completing his education at the Mineral Area College Law Enforcement Academy in 1997, he went on to build an extensive career in law enforcement, earning numerous certifications along the way.

Mayor Erik Schonhardt expressed confidence in Crump’s appointment, noting that Crump's strong ties to the community and his extensive leadership background make him an excellent fit for the role.

Crump holds certifications from the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI-LEEDA) in both Command and Executive Leadership. He is also certified in conducting school vulnerability assessments through The Shomette Group and possesses a range of other leadership qualifications, making him a well-rounded choice for the top position at the BTPD.

Chief Crump will be taking over from longtime Police Chief Doug Calvert, who recently became the Director of Public Safety for the city. Calvert’s tenure has been marked by a focus on public safety and community engagement, and Crump is expected to continue in that vein, bringing his own leadership style and experience to the department.

Crump’s formal assumption of command is slated for next month, and the city is optimistic about his leadership and future contributions to the Bonne Terre community.
