City Repairs Water Main Break; Boil Water Advisory in Effect

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - City crews have successfully repaired a major water main break in Park Hills, but the event drained two of the city’s water towers, temporarily impacting water service.

Crews are now refilling the tanks and relieving air pressure by opening fire hydrants.

Water service is expected to be fully restored by 11 a.m. today.

As a precaution, a boil water advisory has been issued for the next 24 to 48 hours. Residents are urged to follow these guidelines to ensure water safety:

Bring water to a rolling boil for at least three minutes before use.

Use boiled or bottled water for:

  • Drinking
  • Making ice
  • Brushing teeth
  • Washing dishes
  • Preparing food
  • Watering pets

The break, a massive 12-inch water main buried eight feet underground, occurred at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. City Utilities crews worked through the night to replace an 8-foot section of the pipe, ensuring the community’s water service could be restored as quickly as possible.

The city will provide updates on the status of the boil water advisory. Residents are thanked for their patience and understanding during this time.
