Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - Farmington voters who attended Thursday night's elections forum are more informed on what the candidates for Mayor and Ward 2 councilman would work to accomplish, and what the passage of a bond issue and tax levy for the Farmington School District would mean if approved.
The forum was presented by the Farmington Regional Chamber of Commerce. Executive Director, Candy Hente, says the event was designed to help voters make their choices for the April 8, 2025 ballot.
Farmington Mayoral candidates Chris Morrison and Mit Landrum discussed the town's homeless problem, how to attract business to the area, and working with other regional partners to improve business and tourism.
The candidates for councilman of Farmington's Ward 2, Josh Smith and Jessica Layton, conveyed their thoughts on why they wished to be a member of the city council exhibiting their desire and qualifications.
The Superintendent of the Farmington School District, Kyle Gibbs, spoke to voters on the reasons for passing the proposed bond issue and tax levy measures. Gibbs cited the need for a FEMA safe shelter, that would also be used as a performing arts theater, a new track near the middle school, and teacher salary increases.
