Cadet Woman Drowns in Big River

(Washington State Park, MO) A Cadet woman is dead after she waded into deep water and drowned in the Big River Tuesday afternoon in Washington county. The Missouri Highway Patrol reports the incident took place just before 2:30 near the Washington State Park Boat Access point off Highway 21 between DeSoto and Old Mines. Troopers says 67 year old Monica Boyer slipped and fell underneath the surface of the water. She was pronounced dead by responders with the Washington County Ambulance District. Boyer was not wearing a life preserver when the incident occurred.
