Cadet Man to be Sentenced for Killing

(Potosi, MO) A man from Cadet, Mark James Matlock, will be sentenced in December after he was found guilty of Voluntary Manslaughter, Armed Criminal Action, and Unlawful Use of  a Weapon in the death of his girlfriend's grandson in December of 2021. Law enforcement officials say Matlock shot the victim in the back, arm, and head. Matlock had admitted to the killing yet said he was defending his girlfriend. Matlock was convicted during a jury trial October 11th and 12th in Potosi. Matlock will be sentenced December 18th.
