Area Man Pleads Guilty to Receiving Child Porn

(St. Louis, MO) A man from Jefferson County, identified as Brent Lawson, is awaiting sentencing after he pled guilty on Friday to receiving child pornography. Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney's office in St. Louis say in May of 2019, Lawson accessed child sexual abuse and exploitation material on a website bulletin board. Law enforcement infiltrated the website, and identified Lawson as having accessed it. A search warrant of Lawson's residence was executed in November of 2020. Forensic analysis of electronics seized by law enforcement during that search confirmed Lawson possessed 54 videos of child porn he downloaded from the internet. Lawson was previously convicted in April of 2004 on child porn charges. In that case, he pled guilty an was sentenced to 5 years in prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release. Sentencing on the current charge is set for March 18th.
