Pastor Andy “DeWayne” Petty

On August 3rd, 2024 Pastor Andy “DeWayne” Petty was called home to be with the Lord at the age of 77. Andy has held many roles throughout his life; husband, father, grandpa, friend, brother, uncle, telephone man and coach to say a few.

DeWayne was born to Oma (Reeves) and Andy Petty on April 28, 1947. On that day, a man was born who loved all; a man who was truly made after God’s own heart.

He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart Sharon (Murphy) Petty on October 30, 1966. Together they built a beautiful life full of blessings and some hardships, but their biggest success was the formation of their family. Five children, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who he adored with his whole heart.

He had many passions in life; fishing, hunting, traveling, and sports, but most of all being an unwavering disciple of God. Whoever had the pleasure of being in DeWayne’s presence certainly learned about the greatness of the Lord.  He was a pastor for over 50 years, preaching the ministry of God to all those who would listen. DeWayne lived his life to honor God and to exemplify the qualities of a true man of faith. He lived his life full of passion and love, whether it was taking his grandkids out to his camper for the afternoon so they could play, or going fishing with his whole family, or attending a sporting event; he could always be found with a smile on his face.

DeWayne faced great sickness in his life along with many miracles. Through all his trials, he never let his faith grow weary as God always provided blessings, sometimes even in disguise. He knew one day God was going to heal him and bring him home. He was a faithful servant.
