James William Flanigan, 87, of Bonne Terre, passed away peacefully at 11:19A.M. on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family. Jim was born Friday, January 8, 1937, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, He is the son to the late Joseph and Violet (Spikes) Flanigan. Jim married the love of his life of 67 years, Carolyn Jean (Cole) Flanigan on February 28, 1958.
Jim was Valedictorian of his high school class; after graduating he secured a position at General Motors Local 25, where he worked for 30 years and retired at age 48 in 1986. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed deer hunting with his buddies, gardening, working on home projects, going to the casinos, but most importantly was spending time with his family especially during the holidays.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn (Cole) Flanigan; son, James Dean Flanigan; four grandsons, Gary Keith Geimer, Nickolas James Geimer, Brendon Cole Flanigan and Parker James (Cameron) Flanigan; sister Ann Goree along with many nieces and nephews. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
He is preceded in death by his late parents, daughter, Verna Geimer; siblings, Alta Nail, Margorie Geick, Gene Flanigan and Glenda Witbeck.
Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Visitation will resume on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 9 A.M. until service time of 10 A.M. with Pastor Michael Barton officiating.
A private family burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Garden Cemetery in Pocahontas, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Jame’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Center.
