Dr. Ronald C. Hertel MD

Dr. Ronald C. Hertel, MD was born on January 13, 1931 at St. Louis, Missouri the son of Carl and Marie (Messmer) Hertel and passed away on July 19, 2024 at Farmington, Missouri at the age of 93 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Nell Worthen Hertel.

Dr. Hertel is survived by his wife Hilda Tinnin-Hertel, who he married on March 7, 2009 at Fredericktown, Missouri. He is also survived by one son Bryant (Cynthia) Hertel of Ballwin, Missouri, one daughter Holly (Jeff) McKinney of Plano (Texas), one brother Warren (Valerie) Hertel of St. Louis, Missouri, and four grandchildren Claire McKinney, Dakota Hertel, Riley McKinney, and Duncan Hertel. 

Dr. Hertel had a great love for his country as he served in the United States Air Force as a Captain in the Medical Corps; and also, his friends but most of all he loved is family. He was a man of enormous faith and proudly served as an Elder at the Fredericktown Christian Church. He was a retired orthopedic surgeon having practiced over 50 years and for 10 of those years he served as Assistant Chief of Staff at Shriners Hospital. He enjoyed bird hunting, raising Highland cattle and traveling. Dr. Hertel touched so many people both in his personal and professional life and will be remembered for his genuine warmth, kindness, and thoughtfulness to all.
