Washington County Prosecutor’s Office Closes Record-Breaking Year with 104 Cases Filed in Final Week

Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - The Washington County Prosecutor’s Office wrapped up 2024 with a significant milestone, filing 104 new cases between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

The busy final week capped off a record-breaking year for the office, which issued a total of 1,284 cases, the highest number in its history. This figure more than doubles the number of cases filed in 2021 and 2022 combined, reflecting a sharp increase in prosecutorial activity. Additionally, the office secured over 1,300 guilty pleas throughout the year.

The record-setting numbers highlight the increased workload handled by the prosecutor’s office, demonstrating its commitment to addressing crime in Washington County. Officials attribute the surge in case filings to collaborative efforts with local law enforcement and a focus on efficiency in the judicial process.
