Tax Rate Set in St. Francois County

(Farmington, MO) The property tax rate in St. Francois County is set at .379 cents, or nearly 4 cents, per one hundred dollars assessed valuation after a required tax hearing hearing was held before county commissioners prior to their weekly meeting Tuesday. The Presiding Commissioner of St. Francois County, Harold Gallaher, says the county's portion of taxes on a $200,000 home would only be about $14.

In other business at Tuesday's St. Francois County Commission meeting the purchase of several police cars was approved and permission was given to the Road and aBridge Department to apply for the Governor's Cost Share Grant for monies to assist with the Berry Road Bridge construction.
