Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - The execution of a man convicted of murder in the death of a Jefferson City couple, 69-year-old David Hosier, will be carried out at 6 p.m. today according to officials with Governor Mike Parson's office.

Hosier was found guilty by a jury in October of 2013, for first degree murder, armed criminal action, first degree burglary and illegal gun possession in the murders of Rodney and Angela Gilpin in September of 2009. Hosier was sentenced to death in November of 2013.

Hosier asked Parson for clemency in May. Missourians to Abolish the Death Penalty submitted a petition last week with more than 6,000 signatures that asked Parson to give clemency to Hosier. David Hosier maintains his innocence in the double homicide.
