Standoff in Hermann Ends

(Hermann, MO) The suspect accused of shooting two Hermann Police officers, 35 year old Kenneth Simpson, is in custody at the Crawford County Jail after he held police at bay in a standoff that ended about 1:30 Monday afternoon. One of the two officers has died from his wounds while the other is in critical but stable condition. The two officers had responded to a Casey's convenience store in Hermann Sunday to take Simpson into custody for warrants out of Franklin and Warren counties. Authorities say that's when Simpson shot the officers and fled to a home near the scene. The Missouri State Highway Patrol's SWAT team, and negotiators, worked to communicate with Simpson prior to his surrender.
