St. Francois County Voter Turnout Low

(Farmington, MO) The number of ballots cast in St. Francois County's Tuesday municipal elections was notably low. St. Francois County Clerk, Kevin Engler, says a little less than 10% of the county's registered voters cast a ballot.

There are 43,356 registered voters in St. Francois County. The number of ballots in the election was 3,680 which show a voter turnout of 8.49%. The low turnout is being partially blamed for the failure of the Internet sales tax that was put before St. Francois County voters. 53% of those who voted said no to the tax.
