St. Francois County Monday Crash

(St. Francois County, MO) A Desloge woman, 33 year old Sara L. Schmelzle, is recovering from moderate injuries after she was hurt in a three vehicle wreck Monday morning in St. Francois County. Reports from Troopers with the Highway Patrol show at 7:30 a pick up driven by 43 year old Dennis Sweet, of Park Hills, was stopped on Highway 8, facing west, as he was attempting to turn onto Harmon Road. Schmelzle, who was driving her pick up west, failed to stop in time and her vehicle crashed into Sweet's truck. Schmelzle's truck began to spin and struck an SUV driven east by 18 year old Cole A. Cunningham of Bonne Terre. Schmelzle, who was not wearing a seat belt during the wreck, was taken to Parkland Health Center South at Farmington. Sweet and Cunningham, who were both wearing their safety belts at the time, were not injured.
