Sparklers Among The Most Dangerous Fireworks

(St. Francois County, MO) Public Health Officials at the St. Francois County Health Department urge you to be careful when celebrating Independence Day this weekend. The Environmental Public Health Specialist and Public Health Emergency Planner, Donovan Kleinberg, says while firecrackers are among the more dangerous types of fireworks, the most common in terms of firework related injuries are sparklers.

Kleinberg says 2/3 of all firework related injuries and deaths occur this time of year. It is important to prepare the area when using fireworks, supervise young children, and remain sober when setting up or lighting fireworks.
