Scherrer To Be Sentenced in April

(Farmington, MO) The man convicted of second degree murder, armed criminal action, felonious restraint, and abandonment of a corpse in the death of local tattoo artist Samuel "Tick" Francis in 2012, former Bonne Terre resident, 57 year old Melvin Scherrer, will be sentenced soon. St. Francois County Prosecuting Attorney, Melissa Gilliam, says there are no guidelines for sentencing in Missouri state court as there are in federal court.

Francis' body was discovered in a septic tank outside Bonne Terre City Limits, bound with duck tape. Charges were brought against Scherrer in 2013. Francis' body was discovered in July of that year.
