Potosi Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Trafficking Arrest

Potosi, Mo. (KFMO) - The Potosi Police Department reports a significant drug arrest following a traffic stop on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

An officer with the department pulled over a vehicle for an expired license plate and made contact with the driver, identified as Zakery Phares, of Potosi. During the stop, K-9 Athena was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A subsequent search uncovered numerous capsules containing fentanyl.

Phares was arrested and has been charged with Trafficking Drugs in the 2nd Degree, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He is currently being held with a bond set at $630,000 cash or surety..
