Potosi Natural Gas Main Break

(Potosi, MO) Those who receive their natural gas, from the Potosi City Natural Gas Company, are experiencing a gas main break and a press release from Potosi city officials indicates at 8:30 this morning a gas main was damaged during the installation of a new gas line. No injuries have been reported. About 900 facilties and homes are effected. While the gas main should be repaired right away, and gas service will be restored on a priority basis to the hospital, nursing home, prison, and school, residential connections may take up to 1 to 3 days to be reconnected. In anticipation of the winter storm approaching the Red Cross will operate a shelter at the Potosi Soutthern Baptist Church at 10165 West State Highway 8 at Potosi. One source tells KFMO B104 News multiple businesses had to close because of no heat or no gas to cook with, and the Potosi School district ended classes early Tuesday. KFMO B104 will have more as the situation develops so stay tuned for updates from KFMO B104 News.
