Potosi Man Killed in Accident

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Potosi man is dead after an accident Wednesday afternoon in St. Francois County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred on Highway 8, west of Marler Road, at 4:45 p.m., when a 2018 BMW, driven by 23-year-old Jadyn M. Dee, of Park Hills, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 8, in an attempt to pass several vehicles. At the same time, a 1997 Oldsmobile Regency, driven by 86-year-old Leroy J. Rolens, was traveling westbound on Highway 8. Dee failed to observe Rolens and both vehicles collided, killing Rolens.

He was pronounced dead on the scene, by St. Francois County Coroner Jason Coplin. Dee suffered serious injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis, by Air Evac, for treatment.

Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
