Patton Man Arrested For Assault, Kidnapping, And Property Damage

Bollinger Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A Patton man is facing several charges after an investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control.

60-year-old Billy J. VanDeven was formally charged on Monday, August 12, 2024, for one count of Assault 3rd-Degree, one count of Assault 4th-Degree, one Count of Kidnapping 3rd-Degree, and Property Damage.

Authorities says that on August 1, 2024, the Marble Hill Police Chief requested the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control to investigate an alleged assault and property damage involving VanDeven. The Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney was appointed as the special prosecutor in the case. On August 9, 2024, after reviewing the Patrol’s investigation, a Bollinger County warrant was issued for VanDeven’s arrest.

On August 12, 2024, VanDeven turned himself into the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff’s Office, where he posted a $2,500 bond. VanDeven will be in court on September 12.
