Park Hills Use Tax Information

(Park Hills, MO.) More information about the use tax, being voted on by Park HIlls residents in the April 7th election, is being presented by members of the Park Hills City Council. The issue came up briefly at this week's Park HIlls City Council meeting. City Administrator, Mark McFarland, says council members want to again point out the tax would have almost no effect on residents. He adds, the tax would not apply to items purchased in Missouri.

McFarland explains the tax has been misnamed as it not only applies to sales over the internet, it also would be applied to items purchased by phone, through the mail, or in person. In other business at Tuesday's Park Hills City Council meeting the old Highway Patrol Troop C headquarters, off Highway 67 at Park Hills, was rezoned after having been sold. It was owned by Mineral Area College. A new business is set to occupy the building. Council members also discussed the Proposition P sales tax that will be on the August ballot. If approved the funds gathered would be used to benefit the city's police department.
