Open Enrollment Hot Issue

(Jefferson City, MO) Missouri Legislators are discussing several important issues in the new legislative session that began January 4th. One issue includes open enrollment for Missouri school districts. Open enrollment would allow families to enroll their children in any school district in the state as long as they have a way to get to the educational facility. The Superintendent of the Central School District, Dr. Ashley McMillan, expects open enrollment to be a big issue this year and says a lot needs to happen before it can be put in place.

McMillan adds he does have experience seeing how open enrollment can be used.

McMillan expects open enrollment to come at some point in Missouri but stresses the importance of preparation for all schools.
